History
in the Peripheries
The
origins of the Wimble Nation has been lost in history. Their legends speak of
“beings
who travelled in ships of light very unlike any that are around today from the
furthest depths of space”, although it is not known who these being were, where
they came from, or why they transported Wimble tribes and scattered them
throughout the peripheries. It is assumed that these legends are closely tied to
the mythical "Light Ones", and that both of these stories relate to
the same series of events in history. Modern theories suggest that the mysterious
transporters were none other than the Architects (or ARC), but there is no proof of this, and no
explanation of where the Wimbles originally came from, or why they were moved. How long ago
this happened is also lost to time.
The Wimble Nation written
history begins in earnest with their encounter with the Flagritz in the Twilight
system. Things did not begin well, and the Wimbles remained extremely cautious
of these new arrivals, with their superior technologies and massive firepower. The Wimbles on the
planet Doubt in Twilight were invited to join the Flagritz Republic for
"protection". Many Wimbles objected to this idea, but there was little chance of
resisting the desires of the Flagritz Republic. The Flagritz were permitted to
set-up a colony on the Wimble home world in Twilight. While the Wimbles'
publicly celebrated alongside their new allies, they loathed the entire idea of
living under another races control. Many Wimbles claimed that they were simply slaves,
harvesting crops to feed the Flagritz war machine, and to some extent they were
correct, although the Wimbles were never directly mistreated. Things remained tense for those first few years, and generally the
Wimbles in Twilight were ignored and allowed to continue with their lives and
traditions, but very few Wimbles felt truly free. Many stories of other Wimbles throughout
the galaxy filtered through to the Twilight tribes, but there was nothing that
could be done to establish communication beyond the vague notion that Wimbles
were scattered almost galaxy wide in small tribes. An entire colony of Wimbles
had been established with the Hydrae system, on the planet Janth, for a long
time, but this was enemy territory for the Flagritz Republic and communication
was never established. The history of where the Hydrae Wimbles came from is a
mystery. It is known that they lived along side humans for many years, but
recent discoveries show that the Wimble are no longer there. What happened to
them is a complete mystery.
With the collapse of the Resurrection Order early in the year 203 came a change in leadership for the Flagritz Republic. A more friendly face on the Wimbles’ alien masters. This new leadership saw even greater advantages from working with other races, rather than against them. The Wimble Nation were granted the freedom of their home planet of Doubt once more. The Chief of the dominant tribe there, T’pau Enewatak was granted the first position of Organiser within the old Flagritz colony. Complete control of this Starbase is now in the hands of the Wimble Nation, although there are still Flagritz working within it’s walls. All non-Wimbles have agreed to leave the planet so that the Wimbles can once again build their Nation by their own rules, traditions and desires. The Flagritz Republic have offered to aid the Wimble Nation by terraforming the planet Doubt to make it more hospitable for the Wimble people, including the removal of the jungles that cover 2/3rds of the planet surface, but it is unlikely that the Wimble Nation will accept their help.
The Starbase Meadow View still provides
produce for the Flagritz, but these products are now purchased for a fair price,
and at the disgression of the Wimble Nation.
Wimble scientists have taken over the research projects
within the Research Complexes and has obtained an enormous amount
of knowledge from both the Flagritz and Hive. This is allowing them to conduct their own research and produce wondrous new inventions to
aid their people.
More recently, the Flagritz have donated several ships to the Wimble Nation, and provided both crew and maintenance so that the Wimble Nation can begin to rebuild itself, reunite it’s people. The first diplomat for the Wimble Nation – T’oa Enewatak, first son of T’pau Enewatak - is currently on board one of those ships, the Executive Toy (86974). It is travelling the galaxy making contact with other Wimbles, asking them to join the Wimble Nation once more, so they may all live in peace and safety under the glorious eyes of their gods.
Currently the Wimble Nation
is still a member of the Aegis Alliance, with the Flagritz, Hive and Demons,
along with a smattering of Humans and Naplians. This has become an equal partnership although the Wimbles are unsure
if their future remains with these previous oppressors. Only once the Wimble
Nation is strong enough to stand alone can that decision be taken.
